Waiting for Baby Steiner
Portraits, First Year, Maternity > April 17, 2014

It’s true that time moves more quickly the older you get.  It seems like just a few months ago I photographed Shannon and Jordan’s wedding.  That as New Years Eve of 2011!  Shannon and Jordan have had so many life changes in that short time.  A new marriage, a new home in a new city, job changes and moving back to their hometown..and now waiting to become parents for the first time!  We planned a date for February, around Shannon’s 7th month of pregnancy  which of course was a miserable day weather wise!  They had just moved into their new home that same week and the nursery wasn’t quite done so we decided to shoot on location..thank goodness we found a great spot out of the elements!  Shannon was, of course, radiant and both she and Jordan were giddy talking about their baby girl!

After an outfit change, we changed locations as well.  Being that their wedding was one of the COLDEST I can ever remember shooting, these two were more than up for anything this time around as well.  We photographed their wedding pictures in this same barn and it was fun to be back there again!  I can see us returning here year after year as their family grows!

And…..yesterday I had the privilege of returning to their home and meeting their new baby girl!!!!!  World, meet Britt Catherine..she is a DOLL!  She has the prettiest strawberry-blonde hair (not red, right Jordan?! ;) ) and the longest legs (like her mama).  She is so, so sweet and mom and dad are in love!

welcome amos!

Such a sweet edition to this perfect family, meet Amos.  If you follow the blog, you may remember watching his big brother Levi grow from an infant to one year old not that long ago!  Amos made his arrival in March and  a few days later, I made my arrival to0 to photograph the little man and new family of five :)  I always love my visits with Julie, Jon + crew.  Mom and dad are always so relaxed and make me feel right at home.  Big sis Esther didn’t want me to take too many pictures for fear that we would miss out on play time with her ;)  I did manage to read a book or two to she and Levi while Amos took a little break..doing so I realized I need to work on my “character voices.”  I’m kind of out of practice!

Amos is such a beautiful baby.  Bright eyes and so alert….Julie told me that his blonde hair is a little hard to get used to since both Esther and Levi were born with full heads of dark hair!

Levi has taken his role of big brother very seriously.  Julie joked that he’s a little too helpful at times ;)  He wanted to be sure Amos had his hat on just right!

Oh my, what a character!  Love these of all five of them!

Julie and Jon, thanks as always for letting me be a part of your lives in this way.  I am always overwhelmed by the love within your home….it’s almost tangible!  So happy for all of you-what a blessing Amos is!

welcome graham!

I photographed Graham’s 3 month session a week ago…and just today I realized I hadn’t shared these!!!  Graham is the newest addition to the Colclasure household..and little brother to Deyton who I believe was my very  FIRST weeds baby :)  Over Deyton’s first year, I always enjoyed my girl chat visits sessions spent comparing stories of mommy-hood with Kelly.  When she told me they were expecting boy #2, I was so excited for their growing family….and maybe a little excited too about adding our afternoon visits back into my calendar for the next year ;)

At first glance, I was convinced that Graham looked just like his big brother did at birth….but he’s changed so much in the last three months! The definitely look like brothers, but also very different from each other.

Love this family shot of Kelly and Seth with their boys :)

Deyton is now two…and VERY active!  He was all about jumping on the bed (after I told him it was OK!).  Now, getting him to sit close to his little brother was a bit more of a challenge ;)

His sleepy little smirk and dimpled chin :)

Kelly had the request during Deyton’s first year to photograph him at every session with Dad’s basketball…it’s a great way to show how much they have grown!  We wanted to do it again with Graham and couldn’t believe he actually let us do this….

Kelly (and Seth ;) ), thanks so much for opening up your home and once again sharing your beautiful children with me.  I am honored to be a part of their first year and as always love my visits with you ;)
